BJP and Congress, the main political parties in fray for the Goa Assembly polls, today claimed that the high voter turnout today is in their favour and the counting on March 11 will reflect the same.
"The people came out in large numbers to vote for BJP. Voters have seen our good governance for last five years. They came out as they want BJP to continue in power," state BJP chief Vinay Tendulkar said reacting to the high polling percentage.
The coastal state witnessed voting of more than 83 per cent across its 1,642 booths in 40 assembly constituencies.
"The vote is for continuation of BJP in power. We are all set to form our government after the counting," Tendulkar said.
BJP is contesting on 37 seats, while it has given support to 4 independents.
Congress too has claimed that the high voting was in their favour.
"The high vote percentage is against BJP's U-turns, corruption and taking people for granted," All India Congress Committee secretary Girish Chodankar said.
"The kind of turnout you witnessed today was to teach BJP a lesson," he said.
