In the event of the Congress forming government in Madhya Pradesh after 2013 polls, the party high command in consultation with the elected MLAs will elect the legislature party leader, the former chief minister told reporters after inaugurating an old-age home at Bhaisana village in Raghogarh area.

"Congress always follows the practice of not projecting anybody in advance as its leader. In the same way this time also the party will elect its leader," he said.

Singh was responding to the statement by Union minister of state for commerce and industry Jyotiraditya Scindia that Congress will contest the assembly polls under the leadership of state unit president, Kantilal Bhuria and considered him as the possible chief minister.

Singh today attended the launch of second leg of his son Jaiwardhan Singh's, padyatra.

To a question whether Congress will handover the command of the party in Madhya Pradesh to Scindia and if it will benefit in case Scindia is projected as chief minister, the seasoned politician said, "Scindia comes from a family which commands respect in the entire state. He is a tall leader of the party".

When asked about chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's suggestion to batting maestro, Sachin Tendulkar, that the latter could rethink playing in IPL matches, Singh quipped, "before giving such suggestions, he (Chouhan) should first tell whether he had ever held a cricket bat."
