"Government has decided to enhance the existing rates of ex gratia relief in respect of police personnel/ civilians and consider further enhancement of ex gratia relief to the next of kin of police personnel/civilians who were killed/ permanently incapacitated/injured in extremist/terrorist violence duly, including Home Guards," Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma said in a Government Order.
For officers of the rank of SPs and all IPS officers, the ex gratia has been hiked to Rs 1 crore from the existing Rs 30 lakhs in case of death in extremist/terrorist violence.
For Inspectors, DSPs, Addl SPs and equivalent ranks of civil servants in other department, in case of death, the ex gratia has been increased to Rs 50 lakhs from Rs 30 lakh.
Regarding head constables, sub-inspector of police and equivalent ranks of civil servants of other departments, the ex gratia was hiked to Rs 45 lakhs (excluding police constables) from existing Rs 25 lakh.
According to the GO the orders enhancing the ex-gratia comes into effect from June 2, 2014, when Telangana state was formed.
