According to an official release, the Chief Minister asked the district Collectors, nodal officers and other senior officers to personally visit the hostels, have dinner with the students and stay for night in the hostels or residential schools.
During the stay, the officers should monitor whether the common diet menu, as announced by the chief minister, is being implemented or not, it said.
The officers should also interact with the students and ensure that the new diet menu is prominently displayed on the notice board.
Around nine lakh students in the state are benefited with a hike of 57 to 101 per cent. For the students of third to seventh standard, the hike has been from Rs 475 to Rs 750, for eighth to tenth standards the hike has been from Rs 535 to Rs 850 and for the students from intermediate to PG, the hike has been from Rs 520 to Rs 1,050, the release said.
There are 6,163 institutions in the state, which was benefited by the measures announced by the government.
A number of measures have been taken to improve the functioning of the hostels in the state. E-hostel management system has been introduced to bring transparency and accountability, the release said.
Essential commodities are supplied through Civil Supplies corporation and other government agencies, Green Channel Scheme is introduced for smooth flow of funds and all the details of the boarders admitted are entered in e-hostel management system. Hostel boarders attendance, purchase and issues are monitored through hostel management system, it added.
