This decision was taken at a meeting of the HPCC held under the chairmanship of new party chief Virbhadra Singh.

A resolution adopted at the meeting, attended by senior leaders, alleged the BJP government had put "Himachal on sale".

Precious and scarce land was being sold through "legal and illegal means" in the state, it said.

Policies were being drafted to facilitate purchase of land by industrialists and real estate agents, the resolution said.

It pledged to oust the "corrupt and inefficient state government".

Virbhadra told the meeting that the BJP government was virtually functioning like a property dealer.

Dhumal and his ministers were constantly on the look out for those who could facilitate the sale of resources, he said.

Former Himachal Congress president Kaul Singh Thakur and ex-minister G S Bali were conspicuous by their absence at the meeting.

The meeting was called by Virbhadra to set the agenda for the upcoming state assembly election. MORE
