"Despite the violation of environmental and land laws by the Jaypee Group, the BJP government led by Dhumal has failed to initiate any action against the industrial house," Congress minister G S Bali alleged.
On May 4, Himachal Pradesh High Court had imposed a penalty of Rs 100 crore on JAL (part of Jaypee group) for violating environmental laws while setting up a cement plant in Solan district.
The court had also cancelled the environment clearance for setting up the 25MW thermal plant in the cement plant's vicinity.
Bali who launched his "pad yatra" against unemployment and corruption from Manali today slammed the Chief Minister for not initiating any action against the industrial house.
The number of unemployed persons registered in employment exchanges of Himachal was 10 lakh, he said adding that brewing unrest among the youth could create serious problems.
