"The part-time water carriers cum peons, recruited under 1996 policy, who have rendered 17 years of continuous service as on March 31 and September 30 would be regularised and would also be given option for posting or adjustment in other districts, subject to availability," a spokesperson said.
The Cabinet also gave its nod to the Draft Bill to make provision for regularisation of retailers of tobacco products in Himachal Pradesh, prohibiting sale of loose cigarettes and beedis and regulation of retail business of cigarettes and other tobacco products. The bill would be introduced in the assembly during the coming monsoon session.
The bill also proposes to enhance the financial powers of the commissioner besides enhancing the penalties under the municipal laws which were not sufficient at present so as to make them more deterrent.
In a bid to control the growing number of stray dogs' population, it is proposed to make a provision for sterilisation or vaccination of dogs with the help of Animal Husbandry Department.
