Himachal Pradesh received 12 per cent excess rainfall

Himachal Pradesh has received 12 per cent excess rainfall this season and is likely to be lashed by heavy rains and thundershowers in the mid and lower hills for the next four days, the MeT department said.
"Monsoon is progressing well and the state had 12 per cent excess rains from June 1 onwards and heavy rains are likely in mid and lower hills for the next four days," Director of the local MeT office, Manmohan Singh, said.
The lower and mid hills of the state were lashed by intermittent heavy rains as monsoon remained active in the region, causing marginal drop in minimum temperatures.

Shimla and its surrounding areas were lashed by heavy rains last night. The capital received 51 mm rains in just two hours. Dehra Gopipur was wettest in the state with 76 mm rains, while Amb and Ghamroor recorded 71 mm and 62 mm rains respectively, the MeT department said.
Minimum temperatures dropped by two to three degrees. Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti recorded a low of 12.6 degrees Celsius. In both Manali and Kalpa, the minimum temperature was 13 degrees Celsius, followed by 16.6 degrees Celsius in Dharamsala and 17.1 degrees Celsius in Shimla.
Maximum day temperatures rose marginally and Una recorded a high of 34.8 degree Celsius against 30.2 degree Celsius yesterday, the meteorological department said.

Bhuntar and Sundernagar recorded a high of 32.7 degrees Celsius and 31 degrees Celsius, followed by Dharamshala 30.6 degrees Celsius and Shimla 24.4 degrees Celsius.
