Prashant Chopra (91), Robin Bist (84) and Paras Dogra (78) struck half centuries as Himachal Pradesh handed a crushing 89-run defeat on Bengal in their Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day cricket match here today.
Put into bat, Himachal Pradesh piled up a big total of 308 for seven and then bundled out Bengal for 219 off 36.3 overs at Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Ground.
Chopra and Bist added 157 runs for the second wicket after Himachal lost opener A K Bias (3) early and then Dogra struck 78 off just 48 balls with two fours and six sixes to take the score past 300.
With the foundation well laid, Dogra and Rishi Dhawan (31) then exploded, putting on 101 off a mere 61 balls.
For Bengal Ashok Dinda and Sayan Ghosh took three wickets each for 69 and 67 runs respectively.
Chasing a stiff target, Bengal struggled all through as they slipped to 20 for 2 inside the fourth over. Openers Srivats Goswami (13) and Sayan Mondal (4) departed cheaply.

Then, Pankaj Shaw's 53-ball 68 helped Bengal to cross the 200 mark but his effort was simply not enough in the end.
For Himachal, Pankaj Jaiswal grabbed three wickets for 28 while Bipul Sharma finished with figures of 2 for 39.
