Chopra, who has also served as the Chairman of PTI in the past, bagged the award, instituted by NGO Pehchan, in the category of print journalism.
Congress MP Raj Babbar handed over the award to Chopra and 22 others in various categories last night, in a glittering ceremony at the India Habitat Centre here.
The event saw personalities from areas as diverse as music, literature, business, media, social activism and education being awarded. Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken and the party's minority cell chief Khurshid Ahmed Saiyed were also present on the occasion.
Among others, Zee News Editor Sudhir Chaudhary was awarded for being the best editor in electronic media while TV actor Anoop Soni was awarded for 'making India vigilant' through his TV shows.
Both Babbar and Maken praised the NGO, an initiative by a group of media professionals, for "ably carrying forward the legacy and thoughts of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi."
The NGO, which works for the cause of the girl child and the empowerment of women, has instituted the awards in the memory of the former prime minister and has been conferring these honours for the past five years.
