Information about Hindi and Urdu literature and litterateurs should be transferred to the next generation in digital form, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said.
"The new generation makes maximum use of digital techniques and if they are provided information about the literature through mobile application and other such media, it will be very useful," he said.
Yadav was releasing special edition of government magazine "Naya Daur" on freedom fighter Mohammad Ali Jauhar and his brother Maulana Shaukat Ali at a function at his official residence here.
"It is necessary to ensure that our rich history reaches the next generation," he said adding his government would continue to encourage and patronise Hindi and Urdu literature and litterateurs.
"Government will work keeping in mind changes taking place. I am sure it will be successful in ensuring Hindi and Urdu litterateurs reach common people," Yadav, who is himself active on the social media, said.
"Hindi and Urdu languages have brought people closer in society...If you look at history, these languages have been bringing people together," he said.
On Maulana Jauhar, he said, "It would be most unfortunate if we forget those because of whom we attained freedom... people should read about them and imbibe their values."
Hailing the efforts to revive through the magazine the memories of those who have been forgotten, Yadav also lauded Minorities Affairs Minister Azam Khan for setting up Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar University.
'"Ever since Samajwadi Party came to power, it has also worked for Hindi, Urdu and Sanskrit sansthans (institutions)," he added.
