The Grammy award-winner is the second big artist to perform in the festival. The organisers had earlier announced that Swedish house music legend Eric Prydz will be headlining the musical extravaganza.
Macklemore, one of the most popular hip-hop artists of the generation, often writes lyrics on varied social causes and is considered a household name when it comes to protest music.
"India is one of my favourite places in the world. Extremely excited to be playing this festival," Macklemore said in a statement.
The 4th edition of Gionee Vh1 Supersonic Powered by Budweiser will be held next month in Pune.
