History-sheeter found injured in police lock-up

A history-sheeter was today found injured in a police lock-up here, where he was in custody on the charges of liquor smuggling, police said.
Vikas Valimiki, a history-sheeter, was found injured this morning in police lock-up here, district Superintendent of Police N Kolanchi said, adding he was arrested on the charges of illegal liquor smuggling on Friday evening.
Circle Officer (city) has been asked to conduct an inquiry in the matter and submit a report within 24 hours, he said.
However, refuting the allegations of torture, police said that Valmiki's mother, who had come to give him food this morning had given him a blade by which he injured himself.
Valmiki has been admitted in the hospital and is said to be out of danger, they said.
