Hit and run: 2-yr-old girl dies after being hit car

A two-year-old girl was killed after being hit by an unidentified car in the city this morning, police said.
A Chaitra, the daughter of A Raju who runs a provision store, was playing in front of the shop in Vishnu Nagar here when a car hit her at around 8.30 am and sped away, Saidabad police station inspector K Sattaiah said.
"The injured girl's family members immediately shifted her to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared her brought dead," he said.
"As per preliminary investigation, the car was being driven in a rash and negligent manner," the inspector said.

The police official said they were verifying the footage of a CCTV camera installed in the vicinity to trace the car's registration number.
A case under IPC section 304-A (causing death by negligence) was registered, police added.
