They met SP Syed Mohammed Hossain Mirza today to seek security as the villagers were allegedly not allowing them to use the pond water in the village.
"The OC Kalna police station has been asked to provide them security in the village," Mirza said.
The family members said that the man had been suffering from tuberculosis for a long time and when it was not getting cured, doctors asked him to get blood tested for HIV from Burdwan Medical College and Hospital.
When it came out to be HIV positive, the villagers began to boycott them and not allowing them to use village pond, the police said.
Chief Medical Officer of Health of Burdwan district Dr Dilip Kumar Mondal said they would organise an awareness development camp in the village about HIV/AIDS.
