Hive off Maha Consumer Welfare Advisory panel, says its chief

Maharashtra State Consumer Welfare Advisory Committee chairman Suryakant Gawli wants this entity to be separated from the department of Food and Civil Supply.
"I am very well aware of issues concerning the Consumer Forum at various levels and of those related to Advisory Committees, and would resolve them.
I want the government to delink the Advisory Committee from Food and Civil supplies department," Gawli told reporters here.
He also conceded that everything is not hunky-dory with consumer forums and committees in the state and an overhaul is needed.
Gawli said he would soon meet chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and request him to come up with 'consumer policy'.
Gawli, a UPA appointee, is reportedly on his way out as the head of the panel.
His ongoing tour of the state has raised eyebrows with the sources in Food and Civil Supply department saying that the tour was not approved.
