The government school in Kolacombai near Coonoor, about 20 Kms from here, was today given holiday as a herd of elephants was camping on the premises since last evening.
According to police, the herd, between five to seven elephants, suddenly entered the premises last evening, making students, teachers and staff running helter skelter.
Somehow, they managed to leave the school, they said.
Since the elephants are moving around the school, the administration declared holiday today, even as efforts are being made to scare away the animals, police said.
