Claire Danes who plays the main heroine on the show, broke the news during a question and answer session with exec producer/director Lesli Linka Glatter at "An Evening with the Women of Homeland" event.
However, Danes made it clear that the character would not be based on Hillary Clinton, the only female candidate in the upcoming US election.
"'Homeland's' new president will not be a thinly veiled Hillary Clinton figure but rather 'a composite of all the different candidates,'" she explained.
The actress described the TV president as a politician who "challenges the norms (and) is a little scary for that reason."
