While its domestic sales stood at 5,11,939 units in July, a growth of 19 per cent from 4,29,551 units in July last year, driven by a 40 per cent spike in scooter sales, it achieved the highest-ever exports at 32,569 units, up 34 per cent, helping the company add three percentage points in market share to 15 per cent.
Its scooter sales rose 40 per cent from 3,09,170 units to 3,43,878 units in the month, motorcycle sales jumped 11 per cent from 1,20,381 units to 1,68,061 units. Exports jumped 34 per cent from 24,333 units in July 2016 to 32,569 units in July this year, Honda said in a statement.
This had Honda gaining two per cent market share to 28.8 per cent, making it the highest market share gainer in July. In April-July its market share jumped 3 percentage points.
Where the industry witnessed its highest growth of 14 per cent in July on a y-o-y basis, Honda contributed overwhelming 50 per cent to the incremental industry volume.
In July, Honda exports reached an all time high monthly exports.
To meet its rising demand, Honda is commissioning its 11th assembly line Bangalore tomorrow.
