Honesty is "not the monopoly" of judges only and judiciary does not say that the entire system barring the judges is a suspect, Chief Justice of India T S Thakur today said.
"I can say it without any fear of contradiction that honesty is not the monopoly of judges only. We don't say that in the entire system, only the judges are honest and rest everyone is a suspect," he said while delivering the inaugural address at the two-day international conference here on 'Arbitration in the era of globalization'.
Justice Thakur said the arbitrators should have impeccable integrity so that there is no doubt in the minds of concerned parties about the award being decided.
"When comparison is being made between a judicial arbitrator and non-judicial arbitrator, we can say that the judicial arbitrator has been more reliable and credible," he said.
The CJI said that arbitrators should have a professional approach and impeccable integrity and honesty should be the foremost condition for being an arbitrator.
