Honey production growing fast in Haryana

The business in honey was showing an increase of 15 per cent every year in the state, a spokesman of Haryana Agriculture Department said here today.

He said India accounts for annual export of about 55,000 tonnes of honey.

With the profession of bee keeping getting congenial atmosphere, the unemployed youth are finding ample opportunities in the field of honey production in the state.

He said with the flowering of early variety of mustard and eucalyptus in the districts of Jind, Bhiwani, Narnaul, Rewari and Jhajjar by the end of November, those engaged in bee keeping are installing their boxes for production of honey.

The state government is taking effective steps to promote this profession and the state Horticulture department has been imparting training in bee-keeping free of cost from time to time to unemployed youths.

It also helps them in getting loan from banks to set up their own ventures, he added.
