Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today challenged his Gujarat counterpart and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to debate on the issue of development.
Alleging that the people of the country were being misguided on the issue of Gujarat model of development, Hooda said, "The Gujarat Model is only a showpiece."
Addressing a public meeting during his 'Rath Yatra' here today, he said Haryana was a front runner on development front and added, "Modi would have to see himself development taking place in different parts of Haryana."
Hooda alleged that in Gujarat farmers are being supplied electricity at the rate 27 times higher than that in Haryana.
Hooda asked if Modi projects himself as pro-farmer why did not he supply electricity to the farmers at an economical rate.
He said that while in Gujarat the old age allowance is Rs 400 per month, it is Rs 1,000 in Haryana. Haryana was also ahead of Gujarat in implementation of MANREGA projects.
Not only this, as compared to Gujarat, diesel is cheaper in Haryana by Rs 8 per litre and petrol by more than Rs 6 per litre, Hooda added.
