"Besides other heinous crimes, a spurt in crime against women has proved that the government has failed to ensure safety and security of its people, especially women," Chautala told a public rally in Beri town in Jhajjar.

He also alleged that the state government was providing undue favours to some corporate houses.

"Contrary to its claim of working for the common man and farmers, the Hooda government is protecting interests of corporate houses in the name of growth and economic development," Chautala said.

In a press conference later, the INLD supremo told reporters that he had attended the oath-taking ceremony of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on his invitation as he shared a personal rapport with Modi.

He was responding to a media query about his presence at the oath taking ceremony of the Gujarat Chief minister in Ahmedabad on December 26.

In a reply to another question, Chautala said it was to be decided by the people whether Modi should be Prime Minister of India or not.
