He was addressing a public gathering after laying foundation of a football academy and a sports hostel along with Union minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Ajay Maken at Daryapur village in this district.

Hooda, while taking a dig at opposition, said, he did not understand what opposition wanted.

"These leaders were against the generation of power, which was necessary for development, establishment of educational institutes, laying of railway lines and other developmental activities," Hooda said without naming anyone.

"Perhaps now they might have opposed this football academy also," he wondered.

Without naming anyone but in an obvious reference to the Chautalas, the chief minister said people were aware that against whose the cases were pending in the court.

"People knew it well that earlier what used to be on table in place of bunches of flowers in such functions (like the one held today)," he said.

While throwing an open challenge, Hooda said from Kalka to Narnaul and Sirsa to Faridabad, if any person can prove that he himself or his MP son Deepinder Singh has ever taken even Rs 11 from anyone, he would resign.

"We are only taking good wishes of people in form of flowers and turban," he said.

The chief minister said that now opposition has started opposing the FDI in multi-brand retail, not realising that the FDI is beneficial for both farmers and consumers.

"Can anyone of you recall a single decision taken by the opposition during their regime in the interest of farmers and poor people," Hooda said.

The Congress government has taken a number of decisions which included waiving off electricity bills of farmers, reduction in interest rate from 11 per cent to 4 per cent for short term crop loans, abolishing black law of arresting farmers and auction of their land due to non payment of cooperative bank loans, he said.
