The Chief Minister thanked the Centre for considering the request of the state governments in the larger interest of the farming community.
Crops damaged due to cold wave and frost would now be eligible for central and state assistance following the Union government's decision to consider such weather condition as natural calamity.
At present, cyclone, drought, earthquake, fire, flood, tsunami, hailstorm, landslide, avalanche, cloud burst and pest attack are treated as natural calamities and are eligible for relief under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
After chairing the state cabinet meeting here, Hooda admitted that the monsoon rains had been deficient in the state so far, but the state had not yet been declared drought-hit.
