Chatterjee died yesterday morning. He was 67 and is survived by his wife.
Chatterjee, who was diagnosed with bone cancer a few months back, fought valiantly against the disease, but ultimately gave in, according to West Bengal Basketball Association sources.
Chatterjee played for India once in the Asian Basketball Championship in mid 60s.
"He dedicated his life to basketball and served the West Bengal Basketball Association in many capacities. It was a great loss indeed," WBBA secretary Goutam Ganguly said in his condolence message.
