Former Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune feels under-fire coach Louis van Gaal will be given some more time to prove his worth despite having a rough time.
Manchester United are currently placed sixth in the English Premier League standings with 34 points from 21 matches -- 10 points behind leaders Leicester City.
"The team is going through a transitional period and I don't think the club will make any changes. I am sure the the club will give some time for Van Gaal to make things happen and script a turnaround for Manchester United," Quinton told PTI here today.
The former midfielder, who also played as a left-back is here for a promotional event "ILoveUnitedIndia", a fan-focused event which included the live screening of Club's match against Liverpool here.
Fortune said former Red Devils Manager Alex Ferguson also took some time to get the team to the winning ways and the club, has to be patient with Gaal too.
"We have to be patient with the new manager. He is trying to build the team and restore his philosophy. Even Sir Alex (Ferguson) took some time to make a mark as a successful boss. He did not get success all of a sudden," he said.
Asked how Ferguson as a manager, Quinton said he was a winner and a very humble off-the-field.
"Wow! He is a winner and a good manager. The way he did things was fantastic. He brought discipline in the team. Very hard guy, but at the end of the day, very humble," he said.
