"Over 1000 animals with their 300 caretakers from Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh are stuck here due to the absence of a bridge here, even after a month, they haven't been rescued", said a member of Zila panchayat in Joshimath.
"Their sit-in will continue till the bridge is not made," he added.
They have been protesting since Sunday last.
The only pedestrian bridge between Govindghat and Hemkund over Alaknanda river in the Chamoli district was washed away in massive floods last month.
Sources said that a temporary bridge will be made very soon.
