Hot day in Delhi, maximum hovers around 40 deg C

Temperature in some parts of the national capital today touched the 40 degrees Celsius mark making it a hot day for the Delhiites.
The Safdarjung observatory, whose recording is considered the official figure for the city recorded a maximum temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average.
Areas under Palam and Ridge registered a maximum temperature of 40.9 and 40.4 degrees Celsius respectively while it was 38.8 degrees Celsius at Lodhi road, a MeT department official said.
The minimum temperature was pegged at 20.5 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, the official said.
Humidity levels oscillated between 48 and 15 per cent.
The weatherman has predicted mainly clear skies for tomorrow.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 38 and 21 degrees Celsius respectively," the official said.
Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.7 degrees Celsius while the maximum was at 37.6 degrees Celsius.
