Hot, humid conditions return to Punjab, Haryana

The humidity level were upto 94 per cent in several parts of the region, the Met office said here.

However, light rainfall occurred in some parts of Punjab and Haryana, including Amritsar (4 mm), Narnaul (12 mm) and Chandigarh (2 mm).

The day temperatures in the region hovered between one to three degrees Celsius above normal, the Met office said.

While Hisar settled at a high of 36 degrees Celsius, the maximum temperature at Patiala was 35.6 degrees Celsius, three points above normal.

Among other places, Chandigarh had a high of 34.2 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal followed by 35.2 degrees Celsius each at Bhiwani, Rohtak and Amritsar.

Ambala had a high of 36 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, while the maximum at Ludhiana was 34.8 degrees Celsius, two points above normal.

The Met office has forecast light rains at a few places in the region during the next 24 hours.
