Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place among both the states with a maximum temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, said the MeT department.
Ambala and Karnal registered maximum temperatures of 37.1 and 35.8 degrees Celsius respectively, both three notches above normal.
Chandigarh braved hot weather conditions with a high of 36 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
In Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala registered maximum temperatures of 35.9, 36 and 36.3 degrees Celsius respectively, three notches above normal at all the three cities.
