Hot, humid weather prevails in Haryana, Punjab

Hot and humid weather conditions today prevailed in most parts of Haryana and Punjab.
According to the MeT department here, Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded mercury at 36.7 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal.
Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar and Patiala settled at 36.7 degrees Celsius and 36 degrees Celsius respectively. Ludhiana had a high of 35.7 degrees Celsius, though Punjab's industrial hub witnessed light rain of 0.3 mm.
In Haryana, Ambala had maximum of 36.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
Karnal, Narnaul and Bhiwani recorded maximum temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius, 34 degrees Celsius and 38.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
The department has predicted light to moderate rains at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab in the next 24 hours.
