Chandigarh received light rains towards the evening and the day's maximum settled at 37.8 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Amritsar had a hot day at 39.9 degrees Celsius, up two notches against normal.
Ludhiana residents also braved a hot day at 39.5 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal while Patiala's maximum settled at 38.2 degrees Celsius.
