Ambala and Karnal recorded their maximum temperatures at at 37.4 and 38 degrees Celsius respectively, the MeT Department said here.
Mercury in Chandigarh settled at 37.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal, it said.
Amritsar's recorded its maximum at 39.3 degrees Celsius, while Ludhiana and Patiala braved the hot weather with their maximum temperatures at 38.5 and 37.6 degrees Celsius respectively, the weatherman said.
The Department has predicted light rain or thundershowers at isolated places of the two states in the next 24 hours.
