The unidentified assailants attacked him in his room with sickles and axes and he died while being taken to the hospital, police said.
In another case, two people were arrested and 250 grams of gold ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh were seized from them by the Kadapa district central crime station police this evening.
DSP Nageswara Reddy identified the duo as Amavasya Ramesh and Chukkala Vijaya of Nellore district.
They were habitual offenders, the DSP claimed. The two would be produced before a court tomorrow.
