Hottest March day in Delhi since 2011: Officials

Spells of overcast conditions failed to provide any respite to Delhi'ites as temperatures in some parts of the national capital today touched the 40 degrees Celsius.
The Safdarjung observatory, whose recording is considered the official for the city, registered a maximum temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius, five notches above the normal, making it the hottest day of March since 2011, said a Met department official.
The Palam observatory registered a high of 40.2 degrees Celsius, also the highest in the last seven years, while the Lodhi Road recorded a maximum temperature of 39.1 degrees Celsius, the official said.
According to a senior Met department official, this March has been the hottest in the last five years with the maximum temperature hovering above the 35 degree mark for most of the days.

The minimum temperature was pegged at 23.3 degrees Celsius, five notches above the normal, was the highest since 2012.
The humidity oscillated between 63 and 24 per cent.

The weatherman has predicted overcast conditions for tomorrow.
"The skies will be partly cloudy. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 38 and 22 degrees Celsius tomorrow," the official said.
Yesterday the minimum temperature was recorded at 23.7 degrees Celsius, while maximum settled at 38.3 degrees Celsius.
