Assistant police inspector G B Mali of the Waliv police station said that on September 21 night, four men reached her house and told her husband that they would rape her since she had abused them.
They beat up her husband and dragged her out of the house after which they gangraped, killed her and dumped her body in the canal, the police official said.
The couple were residents of Gavraipada in Vasai and the husband was a labourer aged 52 years, the police official said.
A manhunt is on to nab the accused, though no arrests have been made so far in connection with the crime, the police official said.
