On the other hand, "it is celebrating price rise as beneficial to farmers", state BJP general secretary Rajiv Bindal said referring to Union minister Beni Prasad Verma's recent remarks that "price rise helps farmers".
"The UPA government is unconcerned about the plight of poor people and is celebrating' price rise as beneficial to farmers," he told reporters here.
"Economist Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has expressed his inability to bring down prices while his cabinet colleague Beni Prasad Verma says price rise helps farmers," Bindal said.
He said the prices had increased by more than 2.5 times after the UPA came to power, adding prices of some commodities had risen four to five times during the past eight years.
On the CAG report on allocation of coal blocks, Bindal demanded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation.
