The party leaders alleged that Sanjay Parmar was attacked by some miscreants who also tore his clothes and threw black ink on him at Shoghi in the suburbs of the town.
They accused the government of trying to "shield" the culprits.
The case has been registered under the least punishable sections of IPC, where as it should have been registered under section 307, they said.
Parmar had contested against the Congress-backed candidate from Kachi Ghati in the recently-held SMC polls.
"The police have not arrested a single person and it reminds us of an earlier incident where the Youth Congress workers attacked the BJP office in which one of our worker had lost his eye but no action was taken," a BJP leader said.
The party leaders, who were protesting in front of the Central Telegraph Office here, later submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner demanding action against the accused.
