Himachal Pradesh cabinet chose public transportation to attend various functions of President Ram Nath Kovind today to ease road congestion.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur along with his ministers and officers travelled on tempo travellers.
Thakur took the decision to avoid any inconvenience caused by his motorcade.
"This initiative by the government would help in avoiding any inconvenience to the general public as use of fewer vehicles would help in maintaining smooth flow of traffic in the town, besides cost cutting and environment protection," the CM said.
The state government has made arrangements for eight vehicles of the Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) which will be used during Kovind's stay here, an official release said.
