HP CM announces degree college for Jawali in Kangra district

Addressing a public meeting in Himachal's Kangra district, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today said a degree college would be opened in Jawali town from the next academic session.
The chief minister added that the government would provide funds for setting up a parking facility near the Jawali bus stand.
Thanking the people of Kangra for giving their mandate to the BJP, Thakur said the Government would live up to the expectations of the people provided it continues to enjoy their support.
He said as a gesture of gratitude toward elders, the government would provide them a social security pension of Rs 1250 per month, and reduce the age limit to 70 years, he said.

The chief minister said the Congress had burdened the state with debts and liabilities worth Rs 46,500 crore.
Instead of concentrating on development, former chief minister Virbhadra Singh spent most of his time dealing with his advocates over his court cases, he added.

Referring to the custodial death of one of the witnesses in the infamous Gudia rape and murder case, Thakur lambasted the previous Congress government for the poor law and order situation in the state.
He said attempts were being made to save the culprits.
Meanwhile, a sum of Rs 5.70 lakh was handed over to the chief minister by various individuals and organisations as contributions toward the CM's relief fund.

Earlier, Thakur laid the foundation stone of Bada Chiched road along with a bridge to be constructed with an outlay of Rs 4.05 crore in Trilokpur.
