HP CM launches 2nd phase of AADHAR based DBT scheme

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today launched the second phase of AADHAR based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme for availing benefits of different government schemes.
The second phase was started in six districts of Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una, Solan, Kullu and Mandi and a sum of Rs 8.25 crore would be transferred in bank accounts of 9,189 people under various government benefit schemes, the Chief Minister said.
The scheme would also benefit people belonging to SCs, STs, OBCs and minorities for availing benefits of scholarship schemes, beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi Matritav Sahyog Yojana, National Social Assistance Programme, Old Age Pensions and other pension schemes and Dr Ambedkar and Swami Vivekanand Scholarship Schemes.
83 per cent population of the state had been issued AADHAR cards, Singh said and added that 57,23,720 persons had been provided AADHAR cards.
He said 134 centres had been opened for making AADHAR cards and hoped that within next 2-3 months everybody would be issued the cards.
The Chief Minister said that the first phase of DBT scheme was introduced in January, 2013 and so far a sum of Rs 2.16 crore had been deposited in bank accounts of 8,452 beneficiaries under different schemes.
