Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today emphasised the need for preserving and promoting culture and traditions of the state, terming it as people's identity.
He was speaking at the concluding day of the three-day dance festival organised by state's Language, Art and Culture department and Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi, at Gaiety Theatre here.
"We should conserve our cultural heritage and traditions as we are recognised and known by our culture which is a part and parcel of the people of the state," he said.
He said the efforts of the Language, Art and Culture department should be lauded for hosting series of such function since the beginning of this year.
The three-day dance festival that witnessed series of classical dances including Kathak, Bharatnattyam, Manipur, Oddissi and dances from other states was organised as part of celebrations to mark completion of 150 years of the Shimla town.
