Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today refuted charges that some IAS officers are being targeted by his government and said that those who connived with individuals and group of people in "wrongdoings" would have to face consequences.
Talking to reporters here, Virbhadra said "victimisation" of officers was the culture of the previous BJP government headed by P K Dhumal which instituted false cases against him.
He said his government was only discharging its duty by ordering probe into acts of "omission and commission" in the charge-sheet submitted by Congress while in opposition.
Asserting that there is no resentment among the IAS cadre, the Chief Minister said some individual officers might have been aggrieved because of different reasons but investigations into charges was not victimisation, but an opportunity to prove their innocence".
Stressing that he had no enmity with any officer or politician, Virbhadra said investigations are being conducted into the charges mentioned in the Congress charge-sheet and the Vigilance Bureau was functioning independently now, unlike during the previous BJP government.
He also rubbished the claim of former state DGP I D Bhandari that he was being "victimised" by the present government in phone tapping case by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.
