The ruling BJP in Himachal Pradesh today accused the Congress of levelling baseless allegations against Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to cover up the infighting within the opposition party in the state.
On the eve of Thakur completing six months in office, chief spokesperson of the BJP's Himachal Pradesh unit Randhir Sharma mentioned several achievements of the party's government in the state and said bike ambulances have been launched for remote areas, while heli-ambulance services would be launched soon.
He said the state budget has been increased by eight per cent for carrying out more development works, and 30 new projects had been initiated.
As many as 113 new places had been identified, which would be developed as tourist destinations, the BJP leader said.
About the killing of Assistant Town Planner Shail Bala Sharma in Kasauli and the unprecedented water scarcity in Shimla, he claimed that prompt action has been taken against negligent police officials in the Kasauli incident, and the chief minister has himself taken stock of the water shortage situation in the state capital, and it was brought under control within a week.
Sharma alleged that former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Mukesh Agnihotri and state Congress president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu were levelling baseless allegations against Thakur just to divert people's attention from their infighting and from the achievements of BJP government.
