He claimed that of the 9 lakh youths registered for unemployment allowance, only1.79 per cent got it.
"The Congress government had promised to give unemployment allowance to youth, but it played with the sentiments of job-seeking youths and deprived them of the unemployment allowance of Rs 1,000 per month," the Hamirpur MP said in a statement here.
He said the Congress government was always reluctant to grant the allowance, but under pressure from its own ministers and state party chief, it gave it to some youths, just before the assembly elections next month.
