The Himachal Pradesh government has okayed a proposal for a ropeway to the shrine of Himani Chamunda in Kangra district, sources said today.
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh gave his nod to the said ropeway project at a high-level meeting yesterday of Himachal Pradesh Infrastructure Development Board.
The CM said that the ropeway project would enable pilgrims to visit the famous Himani Chamunda temple, which is yet to be connected by road.
The ropeway would extend for a length of 6-km and have a carrying capacity of about 1,000-1,200 persons per hour in each direction. The outlay for the project is approximately Rs 200 crore, the CM said.
The state government has already approved a tunnel linking Holi in Bharmour to Himami Chamunda, which will reduce the distance between the two by more than 125-km.
