Former BJP president and MLA Suresh Bhardwaj told media persons here that the state government has allowed such landholders to complete their constructions which have been banned due to declaring of core and green belt by the previous Congress government.
He said decisions to open green belt and core area was taken by the state cabinet recently after receiving demands from local hoteliers and their associations also sought to acquire such plot but Shimla Municipal Corporation showed its inability due to scarcity of funds.
"The mater was also raised in Municipal Corporation meeting which expressed its inability to acquire the vacant plots due to scarcity of funds and thus the cabinet decided to soften the rules to benefit scores of such land owners who have acquired land but could not undertake constrictions so far," Bhardwaj said.
