HP govt to open 10 new RTO offices

The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet today decided to open ten regional transport offices at district headquarters, in addition to the three existing at Shimla, Mandi and Dharamsala.
The decision was taken to facilitate private passenger vehicles and bus operators in getting route permit, time-table and vehicle fitness related works done, sources said.
Tribal districts of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti which would be without the RTO office would be attached to Shimla and Kullu offices respectively.
The Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh also approved the proposal to introduce the revised centrally- sponsored scheme of Vocationalisation of Higher Secondary Education in accordance with the National Vocational Education Qualifications Framework.
Government of India has sanctioned a proposal to the tune of Rs 44.63 crore for introducing vocational courses in four trades, while the state government would contribute Rs 5.62 crore for the scheme.
The Cabinet decided to enhance the grant for inter-caste marriages from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000, War Jagirs from Rs 2,000 to Rs 30,000 per month and annual income limit for appointment as Anganwari Workers/Helpers/Mini Anganwari Workers from Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000.
The cabinet gave its nod for setting up Himachal Pradesh Commission for Protection of Child Right with headquarters at Shimla with one chairperson and six other members.
Cabinet decided to enhance the fixed medical allowance of employees and pensioners from Rs 250 to Rs 350 per month with effect from April 1, 2013 and also gave its nod to enhancement of Cash Credit Limit of Himachal Road Transport Corporation from Rs 30 crore to Rs 50 crore.
