HP has lowest crime rate: Dhumal

Reviewing the performance of Home department, Dhumal praised the efforts of various agencies in maintaining law and order.

The chief minister said that the state government had modernised its police force by equipping them with latest facilities to deal with crime.

He said 122 vehicles had been equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS), 68 doppler radars and 121 alcohol sensors had been provided to field functionaries to keep vigil over the traffic rules violators.

The chief minister said that time frame of 15 days had been fixed to redress public complaints at police station level, 21 days at sub-division level and 30 days at district level while the cases pertaining to accidents would be decided within a month.

He said that Himachal had led the nation in introducing SMS service for registration of complaints and 70 cases had so far been registered.

With a view to keep pace with technological advancements, all the 100 police stations had been connected with internet and web based services and the state, ranked at the top in the country in respect of on line traffic services.

Dhumal said that the state government had adopted the election manifesto of the party as policy document of the state government and not only implemented each and every promise but also performed beyond the manifesto.

He said honorarium of home guard volunteers had been increased from Rs 130 to Rs 200 and ration allowance of police personnel from Rs 100 to Rs 150 per month.

He said the complaints relating to conversions were being viewed very seriously.
